Dr. Carter is a native of northeastern Oklahoma where he spent his first 26 years.  He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, and he obtained his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City.  While in dental school, he received the Health Professionals Scholarship from the United States Army and joined the Army Dental Corps after graduation.  He completed a one year Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program in Baumholder, Germany and continued to practice general dentistry for another two years before beginning his Periodontal Residency at Fort Gordon in Georgia.  After completing his residency, Dr. Carter moved to Fort Campbell, KY where he served as Chief of Periodontics and periodontics mentor for the one year AEGD program.  Since coming to the Tennessee and Kentucky area, Dr. Carter, along with his family, have decided to make this their permanent home.  His practice philosophy is, and always has been, to provide the very best possible treatment to every patient at all times.

Dr. Carter spends his spare time with his wife and two children.  He and his wife are actively involved in numerous community activities.  Dr. Carter volunteers at a local free clinic where he provides emergency care to the indigent population and has provided humanitarian dental care in Chiapas Mexico, Jamaica, and Haiti.
