Clarksville TN Dentist

Your oral health is arguably the most important aspect in your body. The health of your teeth and gums can affect everything, including your gut health and heart function. In order to keep your mouth healthy, your Tennessee periodontists, Carter Periodontics & Implant Dentistry, employ the most up-to-date technology available in the field. We want to tell you about our latest piece of equipment, the VELscope Vx.

The VELscope Vx is the most powerful tool available for discovering oral abnormalities that can lead to oral cancer and other traumas. Its distinctive blue-spectrum light causes natural fluorescence in the soft tissues of the mouth. Healthy tissues display in a different pattern than diseased or damaged tissues before the naked eye can detect the abnormality. This machine is primarily used for oral cancer screenings in our Tennessee office. The machine is completely safe and requires no unpleasant rinses or dyes. In fact, the entire exam only takes about two minutes.

Another of our useful tools is the Periolase Laser used in the treatment of periodontal disease.  The tool initially seeks out excessive pockets between the tooth and the gum with a tiny laser fiber (about the width of three hairs). Excessive pockets indicate an infection, which the tool clears away. The final step is to reattach the healthy gum to the tooth to begin healing. The procedure may require a local anesthetic, but is gentle enough not to require a general anesthetic. The procedure generally takes two sessions, and most people feel good enough to go right back to work afterwards.

At Carter Periodontics & Implant Dentistry in Clarksville, TN we use the best and most advanced tools for the job. Your health is our most valuable asset.
